Description
From Britten via Bergen to the reservoir in Losheim
From Britten, the route passes the Gitenmühle campsite. It continues through quarries and beautiful valleys to the reservoir in Losheim.
There are several opportunities for relaxation and refreshment there.
Directions
From Britten, the trail initially climbs uphill, passing seemingly endless mountain meadows. Upon reaching the summit, expansive views unfold. After crossing the B 268, the path descends through meadows into the idyllic Pansbach valley. Narrow trails then lead along the Pansbach stream to the Girtenmühle mill and the small village of Bergen.
After a stop at the rest area by the pond in Bergen, the trail leads into the next valley of the romantic Rotenbach stream. There, the path largely follows a narrow trail directly alongside the stream. We then cross a ridge and are rewarded with a panoramic view across large parts of Saarland. The trail winds its way past fern meadows, forest ponds, an abandoned quarry, and through beech forests into the Metzerbach valley. Following winding paths, mostly alongside the stream, the trail leads towards the Losheim reservoir. There, we first encounter a beautiful Kneipp facility with a barefoot path and then approach the shore of Lake Losheim via a very varied route. We briefly leave the lake again through a wooded area before returning to the "Park of the Four Seasons" at the lake. The stage ends at the tourist information office right by the lake.

equipment
The Saar-Hunsrück Trail is a nature trail, with 70% of its route consisting of soft forest floor, grassy paths, or alongside streams. However, this unique quality can also lead to problems after prolonged periods of rain, making sections of the trail difficult to traverse. Therefore, sturdy footwear is strongly recommended.
