Description
The medieval Grimburg Castle and the idyllic Wadrill Valley are the highlights of this stage of the Saar-Hunsrück Trail. After two strenuous stages, relaxation is on the agenda today. The stage begins with an impressive highlight: Grimburg Castle, a large, partially reconstructed complex situated on a ridge above the Wadrill Valley. From the valley near Grimburgerhof, a path leads gradually uphill to the castle. Climbing the castle tower is a must, offering a wonderful view of the surrounding Wadrill Valley.
The next few kilometers are pure relaxation. The trail leads through the secluded, tranquil, and pristine Wadrill Valley. It crosses the river several times, offering ever-changing views of the ancient Wadrill stream landscape. The meadows in which the stream flows are a protected nature reserve.
At the Frau Holle rock formation, we leave the trail for today and take a connecting path to the stage destination of Reinsfeld. Shortly before reaching Reinsfeld, we see a currently abandoned beaver lodge.

Safety instructions
The Saar-Hunsrück Trail is a nature trail, 65% of which runs over soft forest floors, grassy paths, or alongside streams. This unique character can make sections of the trail more difficult to traverse after prolonged periods of rain. Therefore, sturdy footwear is strongly recommended.
equipment
We recommend sturdy footwear (hiking boots) and weather-appropriate hiking clothing for all stages.
