Description
The enjoyment of game specialties has a long tradition in the Saarland and Hunsrück regions, thanks to their extensive forests. Roe deer, red deer, and wild boar are particularly common in the Saar-Hunsrück region. Fresh game from local hunters is of the highest quality, as the animals grow up in the region's forests under natural conditions.
Game meat is very popular with gourmets due to its delicate and aromatic flavor. As a healthy alternative to meat from factory farming, it is also rich in vitamins and nutrients, cholesterol-free, low in fat, and rich in important omega-3 fatty acids.
The participating restaurants typically have extensive experience with game cuisine. Part of the philosophy of Game Week is to offer not only prime cuts like saddle of venison, but to utilize the entire animal in high-quality dishes. From November 7th to 22nd, the traditional Saar-Hunsrück Game Weeks will take place in the Saar-Hunsrück region. All participating restaurants are members of the regional initiatives "Ebbes von Hei," "SooNahe," or "Slow Food® Germany," and thus stand for the use of regionally produced and seasonally available products. During the Saar-Hunsrück Game Week, the participating restaurants will offer delicious dishes. The game comes exclusively from local forests.
