Description

The cycling route "In Hermeskeil's southwest between Prims, Wadrill and Ruwer" (H3) features many steep, but mostly very short climbs for the cyclist.

The HUNSRÜCK Cycling Activity Route is a circular tour of 45 kilometers. 42% of the route follows forest and field paths, as well as dirt tracks and trails.

The HUNSRÜCK Cycling Activity Routes:
Carefully selected for active cyclists, the routes are interconnected using existing cycle paths and are consistently marked. The routes have a mountain biking character. The focus is primarily on providing a nature-oriented experience for the athletically inclined cyclist in the most idyllic landscapes of our region.

Directions

Where the high forest forms the watershed between the Moselle and Saar rivers, and where the Prims and Wadrill rivers flow strictly south, the Hermeskeiler Loop winds its way up and down the landscape in a zigzag pattern. Modern structures like the Primstal Dam near Nonnweiler are featured, as is the medieval and restored Grimburg Castle. A few kilometers through the unspoiled Wadrill Valley, just before Reinsfeld, are a delight, as is the richly structured rock formation known as "Frau Holle" (Mother Holle).

Key points along the route are:
Starting point Hermeskeil in front of the town hall (0 km, 532 m elevation gain) - "Im Adrian" road (1.4 km, 603 m elevation gain) - Shore of the Primstal reservoir (4.9 km, 450 m elevation gain) - Forstelbach bridge (9.5 km, 505 m elevation gain) - Dam rest area (12.7 km, 339 m elevation gain) - Sitzerath town center (18.4 km, 438 m elevation gain) - Benkelberg summit (20.4 km, 564 m elevation gain) - Beginning of the Wadrill valley (25 km, 447 m elevation gain) - Grimburg ruins (26.4 km, 447 m elevation gain) - Summit west of Gusenburg (30.7 km, 536 m elevation gain) - Keller footbridge (32.4 km, 438 m elevation gain) - Ruwer-Hochwald cycle path in Reinsfeld (37.6 km, 497 m elevation gain) hm) - Hermeskeil train station (44 km, 532 m elevation gain) - Destination Hermeskeil town hall (45 km, 532 m elevation gain)
