Rendezvous with Hunsrück and Nahe

Description
This road bike tour is not for those with weak calves. Highlights such as Lake Bostal, the old town of Meisenheim, and the Soonwald forest distract from the exertion.
The route leads through the hilly Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park region, across the Hochwald-Alm alpine pasture, past the Nonnweiler reservoir and the Bostalsee lake, to the Nahe river and on to the Glan river. Following the river, the route continues via Meisenheim back to the Nahe and from there to Bad Kreuznach. From there, it's time to climb again and pedal through the Soonwald forest back into the Hunsrück region. The undulating path leads via Kastellaun, Kirchberg, Sohren, and Morbach back into the National Park region.
Directions
The starting point for this tour is flexible. It can be reached by public transport, for example, via the train stations in Nonnweiler, Neubrücke, Birkenfeld, and Bad Kreuznach. The route leads through the national park region, winding through rolling hills via Morbach, Deuselbach, and Thalfang below the Erbeskopf mountain, offering panoramic views as it continues via Dhronecken and Reinsfeld to Kell am See. From there, the route continues with gentle ups and downs across the Hochwald Alm to the Nonnweiler reservoir and the Bostalsee lake. Passing through Birkenfeld and Baumholder, you finally reach the Glan River, where the Glan-Blies cycle path offers a slightly flatter route via Lauterecken and Meisenheim to Odernheim am Glan. From here, you reach the Nahe River and Bad Kreuznach. Shortly after, the ascent through the Soonwald forest into the Hunsrück region begins. The route then undulates through the villages of Pfalzfeld, Kastellaun, Kirchberg, Sohren, Hochscheid, Wederath, and Hinzerath before returning to Morbach.
