Description

The tour, rich in forest and with plenty of gravel, offers scenic views along the ridge of the high forest.

On the 60-kilometer loop with 800 meters of elevation gain, you not only put your fitness to the test, but also enjoy magnificent views over the Hunsrück region.

Directions

We leave Kell am See via Bergstraße and the new development "Auf der Fischerei" heading north, passing the Kell reservoir on our left before entering the wooded slope of the Rösterkopf. Passing a Kneipp water-treading basin, the path leads us to the Schillingen sports complex and from there south to the "7-Köpfe-Blick" (7-Heads View) observation tower. We continue to the Schillingen leisure area with its fishing pond, barefoot path, nature trail, and spit-roast hall. We then cycle along a gravel forest path to Zerf – where you can refresh yourself at the Landgasthaus Winzerpost or the Pizzeria Oase – and on to Oberzerf. From here, we cycle to the Rübezahl campsite, continuing along the ridge of the Greimerath Forest, past the wind turbines, and finally to the Saarland border. After crossing the B 268, the route continues along the ridge of the Schwarzwälder Hochwald (Black Forest High Forest), past Greimerath – where the Greimerather Forst offers another opportunity for refreshments – to the Teufelskopf (Devil's Head). Here, a descent into the Wadrill Valley awaits before a loop leads back up to the Kell am See glider airfield and from there back to the town of Kell am See. Numerous restaurants and cafes await here to round off the tour, including the Hotel Zur Post, the Hotel Typisch, the Hotel Fronhof, Haus am See, and the Landalpark Hochwald.
