DREAM LOOP Ruwer-Hochwald Loop
Description
The Ruwer-Hochwald loop
The hike is characterized by secluded forest paths and beautiful meadow trails with views of the Black Forest High Forest and the Hunsrück region. Along the way, imposing quartzite rock formations await, some of which require climbing. A certain degree of sure-footedness is necessary for this. The view from the summit cross of the Gipfelkopf, across the heights of the Black Forest High Forest, is breathtaking.
Detailed description
A magnificent 12.8 km long hiking trail that showcases the beautiful natural landscape of the Hochwald region in a balanced and varied way. The path alternates between forest and meadows. Sweeping panoramic views, bizarre rock formations of the quartzite cliffs, and the gurgling Ruwer River, which is crossed twice, make this tour a fantastic hiking experience. The Heckelbuschfelsen natural monument in the Schillinger Forst forest deserves special attention. The geological history of the landscape-defining quartzite cliffs in the Hochwald dates back over 300 million years to the Carboniferous period. The great hardness of this siliceous rock makes the quartzite resistant to weathering. The surrounding slate layers were eroded much more quickly, resulting in bizarre and impressive rock formations.
