Dream Loop "Schillinger Panorama Trail"

Alternating between narrow paths and wide trails, the Traumschleife (Dream Loop) leads through seemingly untouched forests and expansive meadows and fields. Nestled in a large valley between the Black Forest highlands and the wooded source area of ​​the Ruwer River, the trail encircles the municipality of Schillingen and offers wonderful panoramic views of the Hunsrück forests. 

The name says it all with this new panoramic trail. Starting at the recreation area on the edge of the forest in Schillingen, the trail leads around the village of 1,300 inhabitants, offering magnificent views of Schillingen and the two highest ridges of the Hochwald region – the Schwarzwälder Hochwald with its highest peak, the Teufelskopf, and the Osburger Hochwald with the prominent Rösterkopf. The trail is characterized by a constant alternation between paths across open fields and trails through ancient forests and along various streams. The Schillingen forest pond, the Fatima Chapel, and the Kell reservoir are further highlights along this route, which impressively reveals the natural beauty of the Hochwald to hikers.
The 16-kilometer trail can be hiked year-round, taking into account possible restrictions due to unforeseen circumstances such as ice, snow, or storm damage. Due to its length and predominantly trail-like nature, the trail is classified as moderately difficult. Including breaks, you should allow 5-6 hours for the entire hike.
