RuT 2 - Circular hiking trail near Mandern
Description
Detailed description
This themed hiking trail was created as part of the "Ruwer and Tributaries" water project, a major nature conservation project of the Trier-Saarburg district. The project's primary goal is the preservation and development of the Ruwer River and its tributaries, along with their floodplains, as a near-natural aquatic and riparian landscape.
Along a 6 km route, you will be impressed by the biodiversity of the meadows in the lower Ruwer Valley and around the Burkelbach stream. This biodiversity was only possible thanks to the newly created, wide, and undisturbed riparian buffer zone. Here, nature has been given space again through renaturation measures!
The trail starts at the Mühlentalhütte (Mill Valley Hut) in Mandern or the Schieferberghütte (Slate Mountain Hut) near Waldweiler.
Hiking time: Approximately 2.5 hours.
